Five managers who could be a good fit for Raith Rovers

Raith Rovers are looking for a new manager following the departure of Ian Murray after just one Scottish Championship match this season.

Here, I have a look at five managers who I believe could be a good fit for the Championship side.

Tiernan Lynch

A back to back title winner with Larne in Northern Irish football, Lynch has helped build the Invermen from a Championship side to Premiership winners.

Sure, businessman Kenny Bruce has backed Larne with investment but money is no guarantee of success and Lynch’s efforts cannot be dismissed.

He likes to play progressive football too which fans of Raith would love watching.

Jim Magilton

Another NIFL Premiership success story, Jim Magilton won the Irish Cup with Cliftonville for the first time since 1979 last season.

He has coached in the English Championship with clubs such as Ipswich and QPR in the past and would bring experience to Starks Park.

His assistant Gerard Lyttle has also been a manager in his own right which could make a move for Magilton even more appealing.

Rhys McCabe

A highly regarded young manager from fellow championship club, Airdrieonians. Rhys McCabe won the SPFL Trust trophy last season and took his side into the Premiership Playoffs.

Whether he could be tempted away by another Championship club is another matter?

Kevin Thomson

The former Hibernian and Rangers midfielder won League Two with Kelty Hearts in 2022 in impressive fashion.

Many expected him to make a move to a bigger club after that job but he hasn’t managed since that achievement.

Raith would certainly tempt him back into management if he was offered the job.

Pete Wild

A long shot as Wild is continually linked with EFL clubs in England but he has managed Halifax and Barrow to much acclaim in recent years.

Left Barrow last season and currently without a club but I would be surprised if he is out of that game for long.
