Five Scottish Premiership Players Likely To Be On The Move This Summer

As the 2024/2025 Scottish Premiership season progresses, several notable players are approaching the end of their contracts, making them potential targets for clubs seeking to strengthen their squads.

Here are five players whose contracts expire this summer and who are likely to be on the move:

Danny Armstrong (Kilmarnock)

Danny Armstrong has been instrumental to Kilmarnock since arriving on a free transfer from Raith Rovers in 2021. At 27 years of age, he is entering his peak heats and would be an interesting signing for a variety of teams.

With his contract set to expire this summer, he has attracted interest from multiple clubs. Kilmarnock recently rejected a six-figure bid from an unnamed European team, indicating their desire to retain him.

However, with Hearts reportedly planning a pre-contract offer, Armstrong’s future at Rugby Park remains uncertain.

Lyall Cameron (Dundee)

Lyall Cameron, a promising 22-year-old midfielder for Dundee, is nearing the end of his contract.

His performances have caught the attention of Rangers, who are reportedly planning a pre-contract move to secure his services.

Cameron’s potential departure could be a significant loss for Dundee, while providing a valuable addition to Rangers’ midfield options.

Jack McKenzie (Aberdeen)

Jack McKenzie, a 24-year-old left-back for Aberdeen, has been a consistent performer for the Dons.

With his contract expiring this summer, McKenzie’s future is under speculation.

While there hasn’t been too much concrete information about potential suitors other than reported interest from Sheffield Wednesday, his defensive capabilities and experience in the SPFL make him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking to bolster their defense.

Lawrence Shankland (Hearts)

Lawrence Shankland, captain and striker for Hearts, has been a pivotal figure for the club.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Shankland himself has acknowledged the likelihood of departing Tynecastle. At 29 years of age, this is likely to be the last opportunity for Shankland to make a big move in his career.

Despite ongoing speculation, Hearts head coach Neil Critchley remains focused on maximising Shankland’s contributions on the pitch for the remainder of the season.

Sam Dalby (Dundee United)

Sam Dalby, currently on loan at Dundee United from Wrexham, has been one of the standout forwards in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The 25-year-old has proven his goalscoring prowess in the Scottish Premiership this season by consistently finding the net and establishing himself as one of the league’s leading marksmen.

With his contract at Wrexham set to expire in the summer, Dalby is expected to be in high demand.

His performances have undoubtedly caught the attention of clubs across Scotland and beyond, making him one of the most intriguing prospects on the summer transfer market.
