Celtic secure 55th Scottish Top-flight Title With Victory At Tannadice

Celtic have officially secured the Scottish Premiership title for a fourth consecutive season, lifting their 55th league trophy after a dominant 5-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice. The win also marks their second piece of silverware this season, with Brendan Rodgers’ side now eyeing a domestic treble.

Rangers had kept slim hopes alive after an incredible comeback at Aberdeen last weekend, drawing 2-2 despite being two goals down and a man short. However, Celtic’s emphatic win on Wednesday stretched their lead to an uncatchable 18 points, making Rangers’ later match at St Mirren just another game in the Scottish Premiership.

It was Ryan Strain’s own goal after half an hour that broke the deadlock for Celtic, before Nicolas Kuhn netted twice before half time – the first a composed finish at the back post from a wicked Arne Engels cross.

Celtic kept the pressure on after the break. Adam Idah made it four just two minutes into the second half with a clever header and sealed his brace with a clinical right-footed strike shortly after.

While Celtic lost four league matches this season – one more than last year – the chasing pack failed to take advantage. Rangers, despite completing the league double over Celtic in 2024 with a 3-0 win at Ibrox and a 3-2 victory at Celtic Park, couldn’t maintain consistency elsewhere.

Rodgers’ men, meanwhile, powered their way to the title with room to spare, clinching the league with two games left to play.

The focus now shifts to completing a domestic treble. Celtic edged Rangers on penalties to lift the League Cup back in December after a 3-3 thriller. Last weekend, they cruised past St Johnstone 5-0 to book their place in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen next month.

Having won 21 of the last 26 major domestic trophies, Celtic now stand on the verge of making it 22 from 27 and a remarkable sixth treble in just nine seasons.
