Amad and Maya Le Tissier Honoured with PFA Community Champion Awards for 2024/25

Manchester United stars Amad and Maya Le Tissier have been named the club’s PFA Community Champions for the 2024/25 season, recognising their exceptional contributions off the pitch through charitable work and community engagement.

The awards, presented by the Manchester United Foundation, celebrate players who have gone above and beyond in supporting local communities and using their platform to inspire the next generation. Both Amad and Le Tissier were chosen for their active involvement in a range of Foundation-led initiatives throughout the campaign.

Amad has been a regular presence at Manchester United Foundation events, engaging with young people and championing key causes. One of his standout contributions came during Black History Month, when he participated in an educational workshop aimed at celebrating diverse cultures and empowering students from partner schools.

The Ivorian forward also surprised pupils during a visit to a primary school in Moss Side, where he presented a Community Captain trophy to a Foundation staff member as part of a Premier League initiative.

Further underlining his dedication, Amad attended a Christmas lunch with the Manchester United Disabled Supporters’ Association (MUDSA) and spent time with fans living with life-limiting illnesses during the Foundation’s special ‘Dream Days’.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amad said:

“I’m so happy to have received this award. I’ve really enjoyed visiting schools in the community, seeing the kids and putting smiles on faces. It’s important for me as a Manchester United player to give back and help give some advice to the children for the future. It’s great to work closely with the Foundation and see the impact it has on the lives of young people across Manchester.”

Manchester United Women captain Maya Le Tissier was also honoured for her extensive community work. Throughout the season, she visited several Foundation partner schools across Greater Manchester, using her platform to inspire young girls who aspire to careers in professional football.

In addition to promoting the women’s game, Le Tissier championed literacy and education, speaking to students about the importance of reading and personal development.

Upon receiving her award, Maya said:

“I’m delighted to receive the PFA Community Champion award this season. Working in the local community is incredibly important to the club, especially given how big football is in Manchester. It’s great to give something back, and I really enjoy visiting schools and making a difference to the young people we meet.”

The awards were presented during a special meet-and-greet at Carrington Training Ground, with students from local high schools—supported by the Premier League and the PFA—on hand to deliver the honours. The initiative aims to tackle inequality and encourage inclusive opportunities through football.

Maheta Molango, CEO of the Professional Footballers’ Association, praised the recipients:

“The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community. The award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest.”

Amad and Le Tissier join a growing list of footballers using their influence to make meaningful change in their communities, reinforcing the powerful role football can play beyond the pitch.
